1. Purpose & Scope

Nanu is designed to help users explore the mysteries, legends, and unexplained phenomena they encounter in their daily lives. Our Community Guidelines are intended to foster a safe, respectful, and intellectually curious environment where members can share their discoveries, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful dialogue.

These guidelines apply to all content posted or shared on Nanu, including posts, comments, images, videos, and AI-generated or manipulated media. They also apply to interactions between users, including private messages.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

  • Age Requirement: Nanu is only available to users aged 16 and older. If you are under 16, you may not create an account or use our services.
  • Account Integrity: You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep your login credentials secure. Impersonating others or creating multiple accounts to evade enforcement actions is prohibited.

3. Expected Conduct

We encourage all users to:

  • Be Respectful: Engage with others in a thoughtful and courteous manner, even when opinions differ.
  • Stay Curious: Approach mysteries and unexplained phenomena with an open mind and a commitment to discovering the truth.
  • Provide Context: When sharing content—especially AI-generated, recreated, or speculative material—clearly label it so others can evaluate it appropriately.
  • Promote Safety: Protect your own privacy and that of others. Do not share personal information that could lead to harm.

The following activities and types of content are strictly prohibited on Nanu:

4.1 Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation (CSAE/CSAM)

4.5 Violence & Graphic Content

  • Gratuitous depictions of violence, gore, or cruelty

  • While Nanu encourages exploration of unexplained phenomena and alternative theories, content that actively promotes harm or poses a public safety risk will be removed

5. AI-Generated & Manipulated Media

Nanu recognizes that AI tools can help users visualize theories or recreate events. However, transparency is critical to maintaining trust and integrity within our community.

5.1 Disclosure Requirements

  • AI-Generated Content: If you post media (images, videos, audio, or text) that was created or substantially altered by AI, you must clearly label it as such.
  • Recreations & Interpretations: Content that recreates or reinterprets an event (whether AI-assisted or manually created) should be labeled as a "Recreation" or "Interpretation."

5.2 Prohibited AI Uses

  • Creating deepfakes or manipulated media intended to deceive or harm others
  • Generating content that sexualizes, exploits, or depicts minors in any inappropriate manner
  • Using AI to impersonate real individuals without their consent
  • Producing content that violates any other provision of these guidelines

5.3 Enforcement

Failure to properly label AI-generated or manipulated content may result in content removal or account restrictions. Intentional misuse of AI tools to deceive or harm others will result in stricter enforcement actions, including account termination.

6. Context Labels & Research Integrity

To help users evaluate the credibility and nature of content, Nanu encourages (and in some cases requires) the use of context labels. These labels promote transparency without censoring ideas or speculation.

Recommended Labels:

  • Eyewitness Account- First-hand observation or experience
  • Recreation- A visual or narrative recreation of an event
  • Speculative Theory- A hypothesis or interpretation not yet proven
  • Myth/Legend- Folklore or traditional story
  • Historical Report- Documented historical account
  • Research-based- Supported by scientific or academic research

Users are encouraged to cite sources, provide background information, and engage in good-faith debates. While speculation and alternative theories are welcome, content that deliberately misrepresents facts or seeks to deceive others may be removed or labeled by moderators.

7. Safety, Privacy & Sensitive Data

  • Personal Information: Do not share personal information (addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers, etc.) belonging to yourself or others without explicit consent.
  • Sensitive Locations: When posting about specific locations (e.g., a site where you experienced something unusual), consider whether sharing exact coordinates or addresses could compromise privacy or safety.
  • Blurring & Anonymization: If your content includes images or videos of people who have not consented to be featured, blur faces or use other methods to protect their identity.
  • Field Work & Investigations: If you are conducting on-site investigations or field work, prioritize your safety and the safety of others. Provide appropriate context if your content involves trespassing, dangerous environments, or sensitive areas.

8. Content Ownership & Licensing

  • Your Content: You retain ownership of all content you post on Nanu. However, by posting, you grant Nanu a license to use, display, and distribute your content as described in our Terms of Service.
  • Respecting Others' Rights: Do not post content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe your rights have been violated, contact us at support@nanu-app.com.

9. Reporting & User Feedback

Nanu relies on our community to help maintain a safe and respectful environment. If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines:

  • In-App Reporting: Use the built-in reporting tools to flag content or users for review.

In cases involving illegal activity (such as CSAM), we will report the content and user information to the appropriate authorities, including NCMEC and law enforcement agencies.
